Wixams
Founded in 2007, this new town and parish is planned to eventually comprise of four villages to the south of Bedford, Lakeview, Willow Grove, Cromwell Place, and Harrowden Green, with the first residents moving into Lakeview in early 2009.
This neighbourhood is quickly growing and features a Village hall, convenience store. community café, and garden centre.
Wixams provides two primary schools, Lakeview, and Wixams Tree Primary School for pupils from reception to year 6, and Wixams Academy for those entering from year 6 until Sixth Form.
Harrold
With archaeological discoveries dating the history of the village back to the Old Stone Age, Harrold has seen many civilisations come and go over the centuries. Now, this picturesque village features an Indian restaurant, café, florist, a cricket club and two independent pubs. The village also benefits from a magnificent 144-acre country park which includes two lakes, a Nature Reserve, meadows running alongside the River Great Ouse and a variety of managed wildlife habitats.
Harrold is also home to Harrold Primary Academy for children between the ages of 5 to 11 years. and Sharnbrook Academy for students aged 11 to 18 leading to a variety of further education options at Bedford College.
